What are the minimum entry and qualification requirements for a Mortgage Advisor
This career is completely open to anyone who has the enthusiasm to enter this established profession. You will not need any specific entry level qualifications to start the CeMAP (The Certificate in Mortgage Advice and Practice ) qualifications, which are the foundation qualification you will need to enter this industry.
The CeMAP qualification itself provides you with the necessary knowledge and understanding to enter the business Mortgage Advisor. For reasons of consumer protection, after you qualify you will need to secure on-the-job training lasting between 6 months to a year to gain accreditation as a competent Mortgage Advisor. The Certificate in Mortgage Advice and Practice (CeMAP) is set at 'A' level standard (equivalent to NVQ Level 3) and covers an extensive syllabus.
To achieve the CeMAP qualification you are expected to gain passes in each of the three CeMAP exam modules, which are summarised as follows:
- CeMAP Module 1 - UK Financial Regulation
- CeMAP Module 2 - Mortgages
- CeMAP Module 3 - An assessment of mortgage advice knowledge

Mortgage Advice is a career with high earnings potential and fantastic careers prospects. As a fully qualified and accredited Mortgage Advisor your services will be in high demand and you can expect to earn around £25,000 pa. Bonuses are likely to lift your 'On-Target' earnings substantially higher than basic salary.
Be very careful when you choose your training provider. Some offer purely the basic training.
